Principles of Lean Supply Chain Management
Training and Learning Lean Methods in a Hands-on Supply Chain Simulation

Principles of Lean Supply Chain Management (LE 104) is an accelerated learning workshop that conveys the benefits of using Lean methods to achieve breakthrough business performance throughout the entire supply chain.

Experiential simulations quickly bridge the gap between theory and practice. Experts agree that experiential simulation training provides the highest degree of learning and content retention.

Principles of Lean Supply Chain Management workshop engages employees and unleashes their creativity to apply Lean to their own work environment and processes. Simulations can also be customized to your organization to enhance employee ownership and relationship to the principles learned.

The Workshop Process

Principles of Lean Supply Chain Management is a one-day workshop designed to empower participants with an understanding of Lean concepts through a series of interactive presentations and team-based simulation activities by Time Wise facilitators.

The concepts are then applied in a live simulation that models a realistic supply chain. This hands-on format delivers key “ah ha!” insights that are difficult to acquire through traditional learning methods.

Participants begin each simulation role-playing within an environment representing many of the problems of their current operation–high inventory levels, long lead times, inaccurate forecasts, and win/lose gaming throughout the supply chain.

Following completion of each exercise, metrics capture and analysis, new scenarios are introduced and participants are challenged to improve them by employing Lean supply chain methods. A financial business case is presented that rationalizes and drives collaborative improvement with suppliers and customers to achieve sustainable benefits for all partners.

As the multiple simulation rounds progress, enhanced by additional training on Lean concepts, participants identify how the concepts relate to their own jobs and learn how to achieve measured improvements in:

•  Reduced total lead time

•  Improved Product Quality

•  Improved on-time delivery

•  Reduced operational expenses

•  Reduced variation

•  Increased productivity

•  Increased throughput

•  Increased available capacity

SupplyPoint®

SupplyPoint® is a validated web-enabled database that tracks technology and manufacturing capabilities of our growing number of top notch CNC machine shops. MEP Project Managers access SupplyPoint® data to assess the technical potential and organizational readiness of a manufacturer to participate in defense and commercial supply chain contracting opportunities. MEP Project Managers working with defense agencies and prime contractors utilize SupplyPoint® to identify qualified and capable suppliers. Registering in SupplyPoint® will provide your company greater visibility to major supply chain opportunities and working with the MEP will better position your company to respond to new opportunities for product diversification and revenue growth. Registration in SupplyPoint® is free.

Center for Supply Chain Integration and Risk Management

The Center for Supply Chain Integration and Risk Management provides advanced CNC programming and engineering services that rapidly facilitate the drop down of technical requirements to SMEs. We can reduce your quote response time significantly by supplying your technical data, program data, program plans and/or contract data, and requirements listings. As a result, small advanced machine shops can now submit several competitive quotes on a daily basis that will greatly increase their chance for a contract award. Before the Center for Supply Chain Integration and Risk Management, many of these SMEs could not realistically participate in defense and commercial solicitations because of time, cost, and risk factors.

The Center for Supply Chain Integration and Risk Management Features:

•  Rapid Transformation of any type of data files into 3D models (C4, Tif, Pdf, Dwg, Dxf, Igs, Slddrw, etc.)

•  Custom G-Code programming for machines and controllers

•  Set-up sheets that include feeds, speeds and tool selection

•  Fixture design and process maps

•  Reverse Engineering of any machined part

•  Assistance with First Article Testing

•  Rapid Prototyping

The Center for Supply Chain Integration and Risk Management's services are especially useful for supply chain contract solicitations involving hard-to-source parts that are no longer made. Such parts can be reverse engineered by scanning the actual part on a coordinate measuring machine (CMM) and then translating this information into an actionable technical data package. Having an accurate data package enables an SME to submit a very precise and timely solicitation response.
