MassMEP Lean Roundtable Series Features Fall River Manufacturer and the Techniques Chace Used to Increase Production and Stay in Business.
The next Massachusetts Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MassMEP) Lean Roundtable will be held at the Fall River campus of the University of Dartmouth on Tuesday, September 20 from 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
The roundtable will feature Chace Leather Products, Inc. a Fall River leather manufacturer. Larry Walsh, Chace's CEO, will share details and best practices with other regional manufacturers about how implementing Lean Manufacturing principles helped the company stay in business and increase productivity.
Chace Leather’s implementation of Lean, a manufacturing technique that utilizes simple but effective methods to identify and reduce waste, and inventories, clear shop floors and streamline production processes, has decreased costs and increased productivity. For example, Lean implementation has enabled Chace to reduce their product travel time from 375 feet to 90 feet, reduced batch sizes and substantially increased output.
