Technical Manufacturing Skills Training

MassMEP has the tools and services to help manufacturers develop a high performance, results based, skilled 21st Century ready, workforce.

Approximately 70% of manufacturing skills are basic and universal to most manufacturing operations. Training in these foundation skills prepares the employee for more advanced, job specific training.

A broad range of technical skills training has been developed that can be applied to a diverse cross section of manufacturing. The MassMEP Skills Development System is a straight forward approach to the integration of workforce development and profitable strategic growth through high performance employees.

By preparing both the trainer and the trainee, the MassMEP Workforce Development System addresses these needs utilizing CORECritical Occupational REadiness skills training and assistance in knowledge transfer that is essential on the shop floor through effective OJT – On the Job Training methods and tools.

The system consists of comprehensive solutions that address a wide range of critical workforce training needs. Multi-focused programs enable employers to manage their critical needs.

Specifics Include:

•  Workforce assessment tools define workforce development needs and priorities
  
•  Foundation skills training for new hires
  
•  Incumbent training to address skill upgrade needs driven by rapidly changing technology and organizational change
  
•  Knowledge transfer process that addresses the training challenges of the workforce that result from retirements of the aging workforce

Other Initiatives: Partnerships with Regional Employment Boards - REB's and Workforce Investment Boards - WIB's

•  Connecting manufacturers with able future employees that are “prepared” and possess relevant competencies making them highly capable to enter the workforce
  
•  Provide a focus on the need to establish a pipeline that can attract youth to consider manufacturing careers and make the connection to manufacturing and STEM education
